What:
It’s hard to believe that it has been 18 years since Dr. Tom Lowe originally invited a small group of colleagues to Beaver Creek, Colorado, for a meeting designed to combine rigorous spine case discussions, professional camaraderie, and time for family and friends to relax and enjoy the slopes. Now, The Surgical Management of Spinal Disorders is the favorite educational activity of spine surgeons around the country.

After Dr. Lowe’s untimely death in 2007, we decided to continue his tradition of gathering colleagues for the highest quality training and education in the spine field.

Highlights of this year’s course include:
• Candid case discussions! From common challenges to complex approaches and complications.
• A wide range of topics—including arthroplasty, osteoporosis, and new options for the
scoliotic spine.
• Superb faculty of spine leaders with relevant insights from their current practices.
• Low participant-to-faculty ratio to encourage a collegial and interactive atmosphere.
• Exceptional and convenient location at the ski-in, ski-out Pines Lodge—one of Conde Nast’s
top 7 ski resorts in North America.

This program will enable participants to:
• Evaluate cases of cervical and lumbar degenerative disc disease and
discuss common controversies and challenges, including the role of BMP
and arthroplasty.
• Discuss new treatment options and decision-making for spinal deformity
surgery in adolescents and adults.
• Describe optimal patient and technique selection for the treatment of lumbar
stenosis with or without spondylolisthesis.
• Recommend strategies for avoiding complications in treating patients
with cervical pseudarthrosis, osteoporosis, and thoracolumbar trauma.
